about
'Smile' sees B-ahwe flit between bouncy R&B lyrical flows and soaring melodies, with TAMBALA's production perfectly complementing her vocal embellishments.
A shimmering, hip-hop beat is built around a keys loop and popping synth bass parts that give way to a euphoric synth and break-beat-led ending. Lyrically, the track focuses on self-empowerment and the need to check in with ourselves. It's a call to hone in on the positives and happiness that provide the energy to power through life's challenges.
"Smile has been a labour of joy, originally written whilst me and TAMBALA were travelling in Vietnam just before the lockdowns happened. It's lyrically inspired by Nat King Cole’s 1954 classic of the same name, which encouraged people to keep smiling through life’s adversities."
lyrics
Soft like silk , sweet to taste like cinnamon.
My outline rather conscience, did a good job raising me.
Often rather angry that I care so much ,
Then I remember some one has to hold the other side up.
Mamar’s roots pathed in tribulation much more than most ,
My history bathed in faith though I don’t it keep no more.
They say that god just tests the best but whys life even a test, seems the good ones just get thrown around much more than deserved.
Life don’t hand you answers,
you just got to smile.
Don’t get far pushing yourself down.
Today’s a brand new dawn
look at it that way ,
Smile though your heart is breaking.
Honey you a Hercules look at you go.
G’d damn it you standing up thats impressive for start.
Simmering through life’s trials
slaying made it this far,
as far as I’m concerned give you a round of applause.
Star child, rock star, human for start.
Trying at least Quit be so harsh
At the end of the day if you’re pushing
then you’re doing much more than most.
Life don’t hand you answers,
you just got to smile.
Don’t get far pushing yourself down.
Today’s a brand new dawn
look at it that way ,
Smile though your heart is breaking.
